The well-known Antwerp diamond merchant Erez Daleyot left behind a mountain of debt of more than 350 million euros when he fled to South Africa in 2015. In the aftermath of his bankruptcies, the man now risks fifteen months in prison. “Because of him, the banks left the diamond sector,” says a creditors’ lawyer. “He is one of the biggest gangsters in the diamond.”
