Panama adds 5 deaths from covid-19 to a total of 7,183

Panama City, Sep 22 (EFE) .- The Ministry of Health (Minsa) of Panama reported this Wednesday 366 new cases of covid-19 and 5 deaths from the disease, making a total of 465,147 infections and 7,183 deaths in more than 18 months of pandemic.

Of the five deaths reported by the Minsa, four occurred in the last 24 hours and one on an unspecified previous date.

The report detailed that there are 64 patients hospitalized for the coronavirus in the Intensive Care Units (ICU), and 241 in the plant, while 3,441 remain isolated at home and 141 in hotels.

The patients who have managed to recover are 454,077 since March 9, 2020, when the first case of contagion occurred in Panama, where the covid has a lethality of 1.5%, one of the lowest in the Latin American region.

Until this Wednesday and since last January 20, 5,373,052 doses of the vaccine against covid-19 have been applied in Panama.

Panamanian health authorities expect to have inoculated about 80% of the population by the end of next October. EFE
