The Regional One Hospital in Memphis states, according to Fox Memphis, that they have received a total of nine patients. For four of them, the condition is critical.
Collierville Police Chief Dane Lane says police went from shelf to shelf in the store to find people who had been hiding.
The suspected perpetrator was also found dead there, probably after shooting himself, according to Lane.
– We found people who had hidden in freezers and locked offices, Lane says.
The shooting happened at the Kroger grocery store in the town of Collierville outside Memphis, Thursday afternoon local time, according to the local TV station.
The emergency services are on site with large forces.
