Until recently, the Ryzen 5 3600 processor was on the market as a solitaire, or the only more or less modern processor from AMD for an even more favorable price of over CZK 4,000. However, this is a thing of the past and a look at the offer of our and foreign stores shows that this processor is rapidly disappearing from the market and today it is not even worth buying.

The prices of the Ryzen 5 3600 have climbed almost to the level of the Ryzen 5 5600X model in our country, which can be bought for about 7,000 crowns, while its older and weaker predecessor is only five hundred cheaper. For a very similar price, there is also a modern APU Ryzen 5 5600G, which is also more powerful than 3600 overall and also has a decent performance integrated graphics, which can come in handy especially at this time, so there is nothing to solve.
On Amazon the Ryzen 5 3600 is currently still easy to find, but it’s even more expensive than the 5600X, so it’s pretty obvious that the old Ryzen is disappearing from the market. But what about its more powerful versions of the 3600X and 3600XT? The XT version can still be found somewhere, but at prices that are at least equal to the modern 5600X and the older 3600X model could be obtained only by appearing somewhere sunken and forgotten in the warehouse. –
The point is not that AMD simply stopped producing older processors in general to make room for new ones. We can still buy the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF from 2019 and the even older Ryzen 5 2600 from 2018 without any problems. It may seem strange, but the 1600 AF is actually a 12nm refresh of the original 1600 model, which came on the market after the Ryzen generation. 2000 and in both cases it is Zen +.
The Zen + generation processors consist of a 12nm process from GlobalFoundries and have nothing to do with TSMC and its 7nm process like the later Ryzens. AND Devinder Kumar (CFO, AMD) He recently told us that AMD will continue its strategy, in which it prefers the production of more expensive products, from which higher sales and margins are expected. Today, it is mainly about 7nm capacity, which AMD does not have enough on the one hand and on the other hand this process should be sufficiently advanced, and thus provides high yield. –
It is clear from this that AMD will not be interested in selling older processors available for “hard money”, in which case it will usually have no reason to deactivate perfectly healthy cores. The only question is whether the Ryzens 5 3600 will be completely unavailable or very few. However, in the end we may not care whether this CPU disappears completely or its price rises to the level of more powerful models, or so it is dead hardware.
However, this means that AMD is currently de facto more expensive, and there are only old Zen + to choose from, or significantly more expensive Zen 2 and Zen 3 for CZK 6,500 and more.
