Prince Harry and Meghan Markle return to New York

On Thursday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited One World Trade Center.

A first public comeback for the Sussexes. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were pictured on Thursday arriving at One World Trade Center, where they met New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and State Governor Kathy Hochul, also seen at the entrance of the building, which opened in 2014. This is the couple’s first public outing since moving to California, after relinquishing their duties with the royal family, citing a harmful environment for young parents. Since then, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have increased their speaking engagements and philanthropic commitments, and have at the same time signed major contracts with Netflix and Spotify to produce various content on the platforms. Activities that have earned them to be recently ranked among the most influential people in the world according to the magazine “Time”.

For this occasion, and just before going to the memorial in homage to the victims of the attacks of September 11, both had opted for outfits in dark tones, Prince Harry in a dark blue suit and his wife wearing an elegant navy ensemble with a turtleneck, pants and a stylish coat.

The couple are in New York because they will host, on Saturday, part of Global Citizen Live, a concert organized around the world and during which will perform, in the Big Apple, Lizzo, Coldplay, Billie Eilish or Jennifer Lopez. This global event, which will last 24 hours, aims to raise funds and draw attention to three objectives: defending the planet, overcoming poverty and ending the pandemic, in particular by opening up vaccination to as many people as possible, including including in poor countries which have not been able to invest massively in the purchase of vaccines.
