Algeria takes a stand against violent extremism
Taking this opportunity, Lamamra indicated that Algeria strongly denounces “The irresponsible attitude of certain media which stigmatize and attack communities and religions accusing them of all evils, thus stoking hatred and feeding violent extremism”.
Lamamra affirms that Algeria knew how to stay “Faithful to the principles and values which inspired its revolution and its policies at the national and international levels”. The head of diplomacy also underlined that the Algerian constitution enshrined the principle of non-discrimination between citizens.
Laws and devices laws that have been promulgated in Algeria aim to “Non-discrimination and equality between nationals and non-nationals before the law”, but also to “Prevent and fight against discrimination and hate speech, fight against the appearance of new forms of discrimination through social networks”, Lamamra emphasizes again.
Lamamra notably mentioned “The creation of a national observatory for the prevention of discrimination and hate speech”. An instance which, he recalls, “Placed President of the Republic, also provides for the protection and support of victims”.
