Neal, a protocolo de Covid

FRISCO — It would appear that the Dallas Cowboys are destined to deal with the absence of a starting character each week due to Covid protocol.

This Monday, linebacker Keanu Neal was separated from the rest of the team because he was in direct contact with someone who is infected.

According to NFL rules, vaccinated players are not put on the reserve by Covid, while those who are not and had close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus are placed on that list and are subject to five days of quarantine.

Dallas is still hopeful that he will play, as will Randy Gregory, the returning defensive end after missing the previous game through contagion, just like Zack Martin in Week 1.

Neal has been on at least 70 percent of defensive plays in the first two games of the season as a linebacker.

If he is left out of next Monday night’s game against the Eagles, it will be a serious blow to the defense, which is already suffering the loss of wing DeMarcus Lawrence and who did not have Gregory the week before.

The Cowboys also do not know if they will have their main receiver, Amari Cooper, on the field against the Eagles, who was injured in the ribs at the end of the game they won against the Chargers.
