At 33, Karim Benzema is better than ever. The French striker, completing his 13th season at Real Madrid, set a new record for involvement in goalscoring efforts in the first six matches of the Spanish championship this Wednesday, beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
In Real Madrid’s rout against Mallorca (6-1), Benzema scored two goals and made two assists. Thus, so far, he has scored eight goals and seven assists in the competition, for a total of 15 offensive plays with decisive intervention, surpassing the records of Ronaldo in the 2014/15 season (14: 13 goals and 1 assist) and Messi in the 2010 season /11 (13: 8 goals and 5 assists).
