The staging was explicit: while the first name, seniority and function held were listed for each caregiver present or represented, a staff moved forward by removing his blouse to throw it at the foot of a small white cardboard ordeal, under applause. However, it is less the fed up with a chosen and loved profession than “the feeling of being trampled underfoot” by the government which pushed more than a hundred people to demonstrate on the forecourt of the Emile-Muller hospital, this Wednesday afternoon in Mulhouse. Supported by representatives of the Anti-pass Sanitary Sud Alsace group, some of which wore a yellow vest, the hospital collective Union fait la force, which claims 600 supporters, thus recalled its exasperation.
“We are fed up, we want to get our job back! The emergencies of the Diaconate of Mulhouse, Saint-Louis and Guebwiller are closed for lack of caregivers. We want to show that we are there, in the street, instead of being alongside patients, ”summarizes Audrey, a 23-year-old nursing assistant. “Neither anti-pass nor anti-vax”, it challenges however the vaccination obligation because of the “lack of hindsight” health. “However, the PCR test, which I was ready to repeat, has not been accepted since September 15. We no longer have a choice, ”deplores the young woman, observing an increase in sick leave and“ suspensions arriving in a trickle ”in the services, which makes it difficult for them to function. “This is not new,” castigates another Audrey, 36, who came to encourage the demonstrators. “I left the hospital environment four years ago because our working conditions had already deteriorated! », She enraged.
Even more than the medical staff faced last year in the face of the epidemic, the suspension of unvaccinated caregivers remains in the throes of the tense situation for years. With the impression that sick, the hospital is more deprived of its strength. This has health consequences, but also social consequences since suspended caregivers find themselves deprived of salary, as they recalled in a rewritten version of the Partisan song.
