(Belgium) From September 15 to 21, an average of 57.3 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 every day, which is a three percent decrease from the previous seven-day period. According to the most recent figures, a total of 684 people are now hospitalized, of which 214 require intensive care. This is evident from the figures of health institute Sciensano on Wednesday morning.
Between September 12 and 18, an average of 2,060 new infections were diagnosed daily, an increase of 5 percent compared to the week before. But more tests were also taken in the same period: an average of about 47,197 per day (+12 percent). The positivity ratio remains more or less stable at 4.8 percent. In total, 1,226,682 infections have already been registered in our country since the start of the pandemic. The reproduction number, according to Sciensano’s dashboard, is at 0.94, which means that the epidemic is slightly decreasing. Between 12 and 18 September, an average of 6.1 people died every day, a decrease of 17 percent. The counter in our country now comes to 25,524 COVID-19 deaths. Meanwhile, 74 percent of the total population has received a first dose of the vaccine, about 72 percent is fully vaccinated. (Belgium)
