The Internet telephone company Voip.ms is trying to recover from the computer attack of which it is currently the target. This is possibly a ransom attempt.
The company whose offices are located in Terrebonne and Mexico made the announcement via its Twitter account that it was the target of a denial of service (DDoS) attack. This started on September 16 and is still ongoing.
The denial of service attack involves sending an astronomical amount of bogus requests and data to a server in order to make it inaccessible.

Since the start of this attack last Thursday, the telephone service as well as access to the website have been intermittently interrupted. On Twitter, the company assured that it had called in “internal and external specialists” to deal with the situation and that it was starting to see improvement.
Several customers have expressed their irritation on Twitter. They complain that the telephone service is still inaccessible.
On September 16, a Twitter account claimed responsibility for the denial of service attack and posted a link to a ransom note on the “pastebin” text file sharing platform. The note was withdrawn, but an archived version could be viewed.
In this note, a group called REvil announces that they have performed a “small demonstration” and demanded a ransom of 1 bitcoin [54 000 $]. If the company did not comply, REvil threatened to “bring down your 60+ servers”.
On September 18, the same Twitter account wrote “OK, more communication. The price to stop is now 100 BTC […]”. This amount is equivalent to CAN $ 5.4 million.
REvil is the name used by an infamous ransomware group. It is this group that targeted the Communauto company during the holiday season at the beginning of 2021. It is currently not possible to confirm that these are the same players. The group’s website, ironically titled “Happy Blog,” makes no mention of the attack.
At the time of posting, the company Voip.ms had not responded to our requests for information.
