The head of the Disciplinary Council of that state, Alan Pratzel, pointed out that, although a pardon erases the sentence, “the guilt of the person remains,” which justifies disciplinary action against the couple.

The head of the Disciplinary Council of Missouri (USA), Alan Pratzel, has asked the Supreme Court of that state to suspend the licenses to practice law of Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the couple who pointed firearms at protesters from Black Lives Matter who marched in front of his home in the city of San Luis, they report local media.

In the court motion filed by Pratzel, whose office is responsible for investigating ethical complaints against Missouri attorneys, he cited the McCloskeys’ guilty pleas for two misdemeanors stemming from the 2020 incident, arguing that both charges are evidence of a “disregard for public safety” and implied “moral turpitude.”

After being pardoned by the governor of the state, Mike Parson, on July 30, Mark McCloskey, who is seeking a position in the US Senate for the Republican Party, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault in the fourth degree. and was ordered to pay a fine of 750 dollars, while his wife pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of stalking and was sentenced to pay a fine of $ 2,000.

However, the head of the Disciplinary Council noted in the legal appeal that, although a pardon erases a person’s conviction, “the guilt of the person remains,” which is why disciplinary action against the couple is justified.
