Jakarta, Selular.ID – Huawei usually has a tradition of launching two flagship smartphone series every year, where after releasing the latest P series, the company will release the Mate series which comes with a number of upgrades.
Every year in the second half, Huawei has launched a new Mate series flagship device, complementing the P series. But according to a report from China some time ago, this will not happen in 2021. Huawei was forced to skip the Mate 50 series.
According to a source from CNbeta, this hasn’t happened since the first Mate devices were launched back in 2013, but it’s understandable given the pressures Huawei is facing. And this decision is understandable because now many industries are affected by the lack of chip stocks.
However, the latest news to answer the rumors is that the Huawei Mate 50 series could be launched in the near future. A new report from senior experts DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants) claims that the Mate series flagship is still planned for release in the fourth quarter of 2021.
According to a DSCC expert named Davin Naranjo, Huawei is predicted to release the Mate 50 series sometime in October. For information, Huawei plans to hold an event in Vienna, Austria on October 21. Analysts predict that it is the right time to market the P50 series outside of China. The teaser last week showed a device that looks like the Huawei P50 Pro.
Even so, some leakers speculate it. There are small details in the teaser that make it different from the P50 series. Not much is known about the Mate series’s aesthetics and design beyond the teaser, but expect to see a camera setup similar to that of the P50 or perhaps even an upgrade.
The company may be able to equip a Qualcomm chipset on the Mate 50 series considering that they also embed chipsets such as Snapdragon 888 in the standard version of the Huawei P50.
Earlier in the event for the release of HarmonyOS 2.0, Huawei leaked some information about its new device, the Huawei P50. During the event, as quoted by Tech Radar, the company showed off a glimpse of the upcoming Huawei P50 Pro smartphone.

The teaser features a glass back with two circular modules that comprise the camera sensor. The design looks beautiful, thin and light. And one thing’s for sure, this phone will excel in mobile photography just like any other P series phone.
Initially the Huawei P50 was scheduled to launch in March 2021. Even though if you look at the presence of the previous generation, the Huawei P40 was released in April 2020. Then a leaker leaked (via IT Home) will be unveiled in June. And until now the Huawei P50 has not launched.
