The 27-year-old Severino completed his rehabilitation following elbow ligament reconstruction on February 27, 2020. The right-hander made four outings for 10 and two-thirds innings for three different teams, allowing four runs on five hits, including a circuit. He had 15 strikeouts against three walks.
Winner of 19 games in 2018, he was limited to three games between September 17 and 28, 2019 due to stiffness in his shoulder. He also started two playoff games.
In order to make room for him in training, right-hander Sal Romano has been released.
