Lucid Air – Confirms new range record

(Elbil24): Lucid Motors has long been described as one of the biggest Tesla challengers, with a number of self-patented solutions and with services and prices that are comparable.

However, the US company currently has only one car in its portfolio, the Lucid Air – which will be available immediately in the Air Pure, Air Touring and Air Grand Touring editions.

11,000 orders

The car, which was supposed to be on the market already last year, has been severely delayed – much thanks to the pandemic. But in connection with the company being listed on the stock exchange earlier this week, Lucid Motors has now confirmed that the first cars will be rolled out to American customers during the autumn.

According to the company, as many as 11,000 customers have paid to reserve a copy of the car.

Of course, Norway is also on the Lucid map, and the company says they aim to deliver the first copies in Norway during the first half of 2022.

New range record

Here we are talking about at least as raw services as luxurious exterior and interior. The manufacturer itself refers to the Air as the fastest electric car, with the longest range and with the fastest charging – in the world. The top version is equipped with two electric motors that together provide 1080 horsepower, and 0-100 should be done in 2.5 seconds.

If you choose the Grand Touring version, you get a battery of as much as 130 kWh. The range of this has just been confirmed to be up to 832 kilometers (520 miles), measured according to the strict EPA measurement method. It is known to be even stricter than WLTP method, which is standard in Europe.

Thus it strikes Mercedes-Benz EQS, which with its 780 kilometers (WLTP), has a preliminary lead in the reach battle.

The car will also support fast charging of up to 300 kW. It is also more than any other car on the market, but requires a voltage of 900 volts, and you do not currently get that on any fast charger in this country.

USA-produced

Lucid Air is produced at the company’s factory in Arizona and quality checks are now carried out before customer deliveries. Prices start at 77,400 dollars in the US, which is equivalent to 676,000 kroner at today’s exchange rate.

If you want the Grand Touring edition with the longest range, however, we are talking about 131,500 dollars, or 1.15 million Norwegian kroner.

However, it is not known what the prices will be here at home yet, but it costs between 2700 and 8900 kroner to reserve a copy, depending on the equipment variant you choose.
