Apple just announced its shiny new darling badges for 2021, and amid the slew of such minor annual upgrades, increased battery capacity is one of the big improvements across the entire iPhone 13 lineup.
On average, the battery size has increased by 13 percent compared to last year’s models, which means that we are getting closer to the battery size seen on the Nintendo Switch, but on a smartphone.
In fact, the 16.75Wh battery in the iPhone 13 Pro Max means it outperforms the power cell in the Nintendo Switch, which is rated at 16Wh. The same battery is also found inside the upcoming OLED model of the Nintendo Switch.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a bigger battery than the Nintendo Switch now, which is a bit strange to think about. https://t.co/I1ZGEd3Jr5— फ़ैलकूपा???? (@FalKoopa_) September 20, 2021
Of course, outside of a simple capacity comparison, there is little reason to compare these two devices, as they both do very different things. The iPhone 13 Pro Max has to be ‘on’ all day as it is a communication device first and foremost, while the Switch is a dedicated gaming platform and does not have to do things like connect to 5G signal towers and the like. . It is also worth noting that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a display with a higher resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Oh, and it costs a whopping $ 1,099 / £ 1,049.
Still, it’s interesting to note that when the Switch was released in early 2017, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were Apple’s current phones. The iPhone 7 had a 7.45 Wh battery, while the larger iPhone 7 Plus had an 11.10 Wh version. That gives you a good idea of how far smartphones have come over the life of the Switch.
