Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
A number of mobile operators launch network technology 5G in several cities in Indonesia. Although the coverage area is not yet wide, this is a big step for the telecommunications world in Indonesia.
Red plate company Telkomsel became the first to provide 5G services in Indonesia, and began providing 5G services to its customers since 27 May 2021.
Shortly after the launch of 5G from Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo started serving its services in the following month. As of June 7, 2021, Indosat Ooredoo has officially provided 5G services for its customers.
On August 6, 2021, XL Axiata officially take part in the provision of 5G services in Indonesia, and become the third cellular operator to provide this 5G service.
The three cellular operators continue to expand their network coverage. Although currently the coverage area is not too wide and quite limited, 5G technology continues to develop along with the increasing number of mobile phone manufacturers in releasing mobile phones with 5G technology.
Telkomsel’s 5G service operates on the n40 frequency or on the 2300MHz wave band, and can only be enjoyed in several big city areas with very limited area coverage.
On the official website, Telkomsel provides information on area coverage that can already get 5G services.
In the Greater Jakarta area, 5G services from Telkomsel can be enjoyed in residential areas in Alam Sutera, Bumi Serpong Damai, Kelapa Gading, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Pondok Indah, and Widya Chandra.
