However, Infonavit financing is not only attractive for its payment facilities, but also for the benefits to which as a rightholder you have access, such is the case of the death insurance.
According to Article 51 of Infonavit, the credits that the Institute grants to workers will be covered by insurance for cases of permanent total disability or death.
This insurance frees the worker or his beneficiaries from the obligations, encumbrances or limitations of ownership in favor of the Institute derived from those credits.

For these purposes, permanent total disability shall be understood as the loss of the powers or aptitudes of a person, which makes it impossible for him to carry out any job for the rest of his life, whatever the nature of the risk that has produced it.
If the following conditions are present, protected by a resolution of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the self-insurance of your credit from Infonavit will settle your debt, and you will be able to release your credit:
- Death
- Definitive Disability
- Permanent Total Disability
- Permanent Partial Disability of 50% or more
How to make the Infonavit death insurance valid?
In order to process the insurance for the death of a loan, the applicant must call Infonatel or go to an Infonavit Service Center (CESI).
There you will need to provide your full name, email, and phone number for staff to provide you with a case number.
With this information and the borrower’s social security number, the beneficiary must enter the official portal of Infonavit and upload the following documents scanned:
- Death certificate
- Official identification
- Applicant’s birth certificate
After this, you will have to schedule an appointment at the nearest Infonavit delegation and present yourself with the original documents that have been uploaded to the institute’s website.
