LONDON – Britain has ambitions to lead in space science by building
telescope the most advanced robotics in the
world. Using artificial intelligence, this telescope will explore every universe much faster.
Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) will begin building the world’s largest and fastest robotic telescope in the near future after receiving £4 million in funding from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
LMJU currently owns and operates another large robotic telescope in the Canary Islands, the Liverpool Telescope (LT) which it has operated since 2004. This telescope is controlled by humans so it is not fast enough to examine objects.

Telescope which will be built later is controlled by artificial intelligence (AI), which means it can help Liverpool astronomers explore remote corners of the universe quickly.
By building the largest telescope in the world, British astronomers will be able to discover this mystery faster than anyone else.
This advanced telescope will also be installed in the Canary Islands. The telescope is four times more sensitive and 10 times faster than the previous record holder.
Dr Chris Copperwheat, LT Astronomer in Charge at LJMU, said the goal of building the first advanced robotic telescope was not only to be bigger but also faster.

“So later there will be a robot controller that will move quickly if there is one object where researchers will get the earliest insight,” he told Express.co.uk.
According to experts, this is an area where Britain is currently at the forefront and where others are trying to catch up.
