3,738 ballot papers were rejected after this year’s parliamentary elections, the Norwegian Electoral Directorate’s final count shows.

It was in the constituency of Akershus that most ballot papers went in the trash, figures show NRK has retrieved from the directorate. There were a total of 614 useless votes.
Few votes were lost in Finnmark.
The most common reason for votes being rejected is that they lack a stamp.
– You do not need to use an ordinary ballot paper. You can use a sheet, write the party you want and what choice it is. But if it lacks a stamp, it will be rejected, says election manager Bertil Søfteland in Vestland county.
Three out of four of the rejected votes are from the advance vote. The main reason why advance votes are cast is that the voter is not a Norwegian citizen and therefore not in the electoral roll.
The number of rejected votes in this year’s parliamentary elections is around 1,300 fewer than in the parliamentary elections in 2017, according to the channel.
