Indihome Down Internet Network, this is Telkom’s explanation

TIMIKA | Indihome service users belonging to PT. Telkom Indonesia in the Timika region, Papua, complained that its internet connection was suddenly cut off on Sunday (19/9/2021) night.

Head of the Telkom Regional Office (Kakandatel) Mimika Jangkir Simbiak said that his party had not been able to determine the cause of the disturbance because it generally occurred in Eastern Indonesia.

This network disturbance, he said, did not only occur in Mimika or Papua in general, but also in parts of Sulawesi and Maluku.

“So it can be conveyed that this is a mass disturbance. With this disturbance, we are still coordinating regarding the cause and position,” Jangkir said when confirmed via his cell phone, Sunday night.

Even so, Jangkir explained, while it is known that this disturbance only affects PT Telkom’s internet network.

He also admitted that his party had received a complaint from PT Freeport Indonesia, a multinational company in Mimika that also used the services of PT. Telkom.

“We have coordinated and it turns out that Jayapura is also affected, as well as Sulawesi. This is the disruption of Telkom’s internet network. For Telkomsel, we haven’t checked,” he said.

Jangkir could not confirm whether this network disruption occurred nationally. His party has not checked for the Java and Sumatra regions. However, he made sure that all regions of Eastern Indonesia were affected.

“From this disturbance, the central party has no information, because it is possible that the investigation is still being carried out. So we can’t say for sure how long it will take, but hopefully it can be handled as soon as possible,” he said.
