German Green Party MEP Reinhard Boutikofer has warned that Nord Stream 2 between Russia and Germany could become “investment ruins” if the certification process proves not to comply with European law.
In an interview with DPA, he said that the “joyful shouts” with which the Russian side celebrates the completion of Nord Stream 2 are premature. The politician stressed that certification can take months.
The pipeline will also have to be registered as an independent transport operator. The draft will then be sent to the European Commission for an opinion.
