As for the public, we encourage discipline in wearing masks, immediately vaccinating and also using information technology,” said Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate.
Epidemiologist and Senior Researcher Kamaluddin Latief explained that the use of technology in surveillance applications to prevent infectious diseases is very necessary. The use of technology has proven to be effective in everyday life in developed countries, such as Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan.
“This technology application is useful for helping people affected by COVID-19, as well as protecting the wider community from possible exposure. Provide information about the current situation and places to avoid,” added Kamaluddin.
In the country, in order to optimize the protection of citizens’ health, the government has provided an application by the nation’s children PeduliLindung, which can be used as a tool for the community to carry out activities side by side with the COVID-19 virus.
Through this application, the government can quickly carry out tracing so that if there are new cases they can be handled immediately.
In addition, the use of the screening function can provide a sense of security and comfort for the public to carry out activities in public spaces, even though the COVID-19 virus continues to threaten.
