The Medical Orders are unable to terminate their “no vax” members

In recent months, many healthcare companies they started to suspend unvaccinated health workers, as foreseen the law which at the beginning of April introduced compulsory vaccination for doctors, nurses and all other professionals working in the health sector. The suspensions, however, would not be followed by the consequent radiations from the provincial Orders. This was stated by Filippo Anelli, the president of the national federation of medical orders (FNOMCEO).

In an interview at the HuffPostRings said about 1,500 doctors have not yet been vaccinated. Not everyone should be considered “no vax” – 30 percent of the unvaccinated have booked after the reports sent by the health authorities – but according to Anelli there would be a residual share of “no vax” doctors which he defines as “hard and pure” and which estimates between 0.1 and 0.2 percent of the total number of doctors. It would be them, the doctors that the Orders are unable to dismiss.

The absurdity is that we can’t get rid of them, not even those who make propaganda against vaccines. We many of these doctors also try to ban them, but they appeal and the sanction is suspended, it never becomes effective.

The problem appears to be bureaucratic. The appeal of the doctors and the subsequent possible radiation, explains Anelli, must be examined by the Central Commission for health professions, a body of special jurisdiction established at the Ministry of Health, whose members are appointed by decree of the President of the Council of ministers. The commission, however, expired in 2020. Anelli explained that the federation of Orders has tried “to pressurize both the Minister of Health Speranza and that of Justice Cartabia”, to ask for it to be renewed: at the moment it has not received any answers.
