3 wins, 14: 1 goals – what a week in Bavaria!
It’s only been five game days, but who doubts that Bayern will be German champions for the 10th time in a row? Almost no one.
7-0 against VfL – screams for seven (not very serious) reasons why Bayern will NOT become champions in the 2021/22 season.
1. March order! Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch said in the week before the top game against Bayern: “To be honest, to fight against Bayern we need the whole league.” Leipzig, Wolfsburg and Leverkusen are an all-star team that Bayern can (sometimes) defeat. Particularly nasty: the coaching duo of this all-star team. It consists of Mark van Bommel (knows Bayern well) and national coach Hansi Flick (knows them even better).
2. Total boss and functionary chaos! Nagelsmann and sports director Salihamidzic squabble even more violently than Flick and Brazzo last season, dragging Kahn and President Hainer into their feud. These conflicts and turbulence unsettle the team so much that five games are lost in the second half of the season. Only when honorary president Uli Hoeneß comes from Tegernsee and pacifies the club does calm return. But there the bowl is already at Borsigplatz.
3. Outsourcing! The CDU loses the federal election with Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet and Markus Söder and the CSU found their own state, split off from Germany (finally). Means: Even the record champions no longer belong to Germany and have to found a new league with the teams of the Regionalliga Bayern.
4. Incredible bad luck with injuries (which, of course, nobody seriously wishes): Lewandowski, Gnabry, Müller, Sané, Choupo-Moting and Coman all tear their cruciate ligament. In the offensive, Nagelsmann can only use players from the second team. And Sieb, Batista Meier or Tillman are not enough to dominate the Bundesliga.
5. Transfer-Hammer! Because Lewandowski’s “Piranha” advisor Zahavi is negotiating a mega-deal with Real Madrid, the Polish striker is moving to Spain during the winter break. What felt like 30 Lewandowski goals in the second half of the season are missing for the Munich team to become champions again.

6. Haaland Explosion! In the Supercup, Erling Haaland waved his arms and pushed the fans until even Leon Goretzka had to laugh on the pitch. But the BVB-Sturm-Vulkan would give everything to wag Bavaria from the throne and make them laugh. If need be, score 100 goals this season. Haaland explodes – and Bavaria’s dream of the next championship has cooled off.
7. Mark van Bommel! If Wolfsburg wins against Frankfurt on Sunday, VfL is at the top of the table. Drive the aggressive leader off the top? Not even the Über-Bayern can do that …
