The group stage of the World Cup is over and the futsal team of Panama will seek to make a great game against the Brazilian team.
Panama Futsal will face this Sunday, September 19, its last match of the group stage of the Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021.
Those led by coach José Botana will face five-time world champion Brazil at the Klaipeda Arena at 8:00 am Panama time.
Despite the fact that the classification looks very complicated at the moment, the last thing the canal team wants is to leave a bad image, that is why the players will go out to leave the best possible impression in a very complicated match.
Group D
It’s true. For Panama Futsal to advance to the round of 16 of the World Cup, many things have to happen: matches lost by teams in other groups, beat Brazil by a landslide, and Vietnam and the Czech Republic do not draw their match.
All these factors paint the picture very difficult, but that does not mean that it is impossible either.
The futsal team will look to Brazil to leave the best possible image before the futsal world. It will try to make a decent game for the South American team and even improve what has been done in previous meetings.
Players and coaching staff know that they have not yet given everything they had to offer in this World Cup, which is why surrender is not in their options. The team has kept working with the same seriousness as on day one.
Group D for the moment marches like this:
- Brazil – 6pts
- Czech – 3pts
- Vietnam – 3pts
- Panama – 0pts
The other match in the group will be played between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, at 6:00 pm local time. This meeting looks of great importance for both teams, because they will play each other, most likely, their ticket to the next phase.
Both teams will want to win so as not to be in third position and play it to be one of the four best third places in the tournament.
Panama, for its part, will need to beat Brazil and have a result of at least 5-0, to be able to aspire to be one of those best third parties.
Tomorrow begins this final day of the group stage and we will have to be aware of how everything unfolds.
Spying on the rival
The Brazilian team is the top champion of the tournament.
He has had the opportunity to lift the title up to five times, the last of which was Thailand 2012.
It has several leading players who are among the best in the world in this discipline. Two specific names come up: Ferrao and Rodrigo.
The former is a current Barcelona Football Club player and also the best player in the world. It measures 1.78m and its position is pivot. Thanks to his height and strength, he can receive from the back, turn and shoot the frame. He is called “the Ronaldo of futsal”.
The second is the captain of this Brazil, Rodrigo Araújo. Play as close and belong to the Brazilian fashion team of recent years, Magnus Futsal. Coincidentally, yesterday in the match against the Czech Republic, he made his 100th entry with the canarinha.
Brazil is one of the clear contenders for the title this year.
After being surprisingly eliminated in the knockout stages of Colombia 2016, where they lost to Iran on penalties, they will seek to regain ground lost in recent years, where their biggest rival Argentina has grown enormously after being proclaimed world champion on that occasion.
They train
Today the futsal team had a double session after yesterday’s game against Vietnam.
In the morning there was a gym session, where the players performed a routine of various exercises focused on the upper body.
In the afternoon they worked on the track for one hour and fifteen minutes.
This training began with Botana’s usual word to his people. Next, a coordination circuit with the ball was performed to warm up.
Later, Apolinar Gálvez led several attack-defense transition exercises, using all possible scenarios: 2v1, 2v2 and so on.
The day closed with soccer.
For tomorrow, only the usual on-track training is planned at 5:00 pm Lithuania time.
