Costa Rica opens vaccination against COVID-19 for irregular migrants
The Costa Rican authorities have announced the opening of the vaccination process against COVID-19 for irregular migrants, which must demonstrate their roots in the country.
The Vice Minister of Health, Pedro González, explained that this initiative aims to “vaccinate as many people as possible who live in the country.”
Irregular migrants who wish to be vaccinated must demonstrate their roots in Costa Rica using various options such as be included in a family file before the CCSS, have registration of children enrolled in educational centers, a note of the place where you work that indicates the period of time worked or property records in your name.
This people must go to a health center to identify yourself and they will not be required to be insured to opt for the vaccine.
So far, the country has inoculated 408,454 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 to foreignersOf these 280,812 correspond to first doses and 127,642 to second doses.
Before this Friday’s announcement for irregular migrants, Costa Rica I already vaccinated regular migrants with some type of identification to confirm its status.
