No one arrested yet for car fires in Ede, possibly link with fairground dispute

No one has yet been arrested after the series of car fires in Ede earlier this week. In the night from Monday to Tuesday, twenty cars were damaged by fire in six different places.

The police have been sent a lot of footage and witnesses are still being heard. According to the fire service, stones have been found near the damaged and burned-out cars.

Residents of the Veldhuizen district would have seen windows being smashed, after which a fire was started with a flammable liquid. According to witnesses, two men on scooters drove off when the cars were on fire.

Broadcasting Gelderland writes that the fires may be the result of a conflict between rival groups. There would have been a fight at the fair in Ede, after which one of the groups would have threatened reprisals. The police say they are aware of this scenario and are calling on witnesses to share information.
