The board of directors of the French-language broadcaster RTBF on Friday approved the resignation of an executive who is suspected of having leaked the salary of administrator-general Jean-Paul Philippot two years ago. It turned out that the man earned more than the ceiling of 245,000 euros gross that the French community government imposes.

The decision by the board of directors on Friday was approved by 11 votes to one. It is a confirmation of a decision by the RTBF Discipline Council. The executive will be dismissed with immediate effect, but will retain the right to unemployment compensation.
The executive, a former administrative officer in the HR department, is said to have leaked the salary to undermine Philippot’s credibility. But the woman denies that. Her lawyer Xavier Close will contest her dismissal before the Council of State, he confirms to Belga on Friday.
The RTBF CEO was eventually obliged by the Minister of Media to repay 60,000 euros for the period 2014-2018. He was also asked to waive his €40,000 bonus for fiscal year 2019.
