Rest assured, this is not yet the epiphany time and the time for king cakes has not yet arrived! However, the caregivers of the Auch hospital received on September 13, 2021, € 2,000 in donations, including wheelchairs and a latest generation coffee machine. These donations come from the famous Confrérie de la Fève, located in Seissan (32).
This is a generous donation for the Intensive Care Unit. The caregivers were very touched by the generosity of this association. This will improve their well-being at work. We thank for this generosity and this benevolence which has softened the daily life of our caregivers in the midst of a health crisis for more than 18 months now.
The legendary old-fashioned bean soup
As every year, the brotherhood organizes a meal in Seissan, around the cult old-fashioned bean soup. “This is the real soup of yesteryear, with hard bread, pork knuckle, broad bean, carrot and potato” specifies Didier Pfeffer, president of the brotherhood.
It is the former boss of the Hôtel de France in Seissan, Jean Pierre Haubre, who is in the kitchen for the occasion.
All the profits collected, on average € 2,000 per year, are systematically donated in the form of gifts to public utility establishments.
We’re a bunch of buddies who love old-fashioned bean soup. Each year our meal welcomes 200 participants in the communal room. It is a very popular date. André Daguin, the chef, never missed it under any circumstances. We donate all of our profits to charities.
The success is such that the Brotherhood, limited by the size of the village hall, must refuse numerous registrations for the meal each year. “This year we unfortunately turned down nearly 200 people”.
Defibrillators and children’s toys from previous years
The association, which is celebrating its 10 years of existence, is not at its first act of generosity. In previous years, the acolytes have offered defibrillators for the municipality, toys for children at the Toulouse-Purpan hospital or even medical software for the Oncopole.
Always donations in kind
The profits collected during these meals are generally between 2000 and 3000 €. The association, which has about twenty members, has chosen to always offer its donations in kind. In other words, the institution which is chosen each year by the Brotherhood must send a wish list. It is the responsibility of the members of the Brotherhood to purchase the equipment to deliver it in kind.
We have always decided to offer gifts in kind exclusively. For us it is a guarantee that the money is not embezzled. And it’s more pleasant to see the recipients happy by these gifts which are very concrete when we deliver them.
