Barcelona Metropolitan Transport (TMB) will launch next Monday, September 20, the first semi-direct bus line XPRESBus X1 to connect the city center with Plaça de Francesc Macià and Plaça de las Glòries between about 10 and 13 minutes.
The line will be in operation from Monday to Friday between the months of September and July, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.. It will also have four stops per direction in the Hospital Clínic, Plaza Universitat with Aribau, Paseo de Gràcia and Paseo de Sant Joan. In total it will make 10 stops, of which four are newly created and for the exclusive use of the bus. “Access will be fast and agile and will allow a very efficient connection”, he assured Gerardo Lertxundi, CEO of TMB.
This new line will differ from the others by being of black color and have the letter X placed at the beginning of the line number.

Once this new line is put into operation, TMB will study the possibility of extending the route of this line to Avenida de Maria Cristina, as well as starting up other semi-direct lines in the city. “This line will help people who arrive at the entrance of Barcelona to quickly access the city center. This will favor connectivity and we do it with a sustainable bus”, he assured Rosa Alarcon, in her last act as president of TMB and councilor for Mobility of the city council.
