The Argentine star currently in Florida admits that David Beckham’s ambitious MLS franchise wants to sign the six-time Ballon d’Or.
Lionel Messi could end up joining Inter Miami, according to Gonzalo Higuain. A move to the United States for an all-time great player has been the subject of speculation for some time, with the man who left FC Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer hinting that an American fling might please him.
Higuain, who is a former international teammate of Messi, is not going to say if a deal will be made, but he acknowledges that Beckham and his teammates would like to have a modern day superstar on their shelves.
Higuain told ESPN of the Messi rumors: “I don’t want to be in trouble, I don’t know about Leo in Miami.
Not to miss
“He signed for two years with PSG … The club wants him, we’ll see.” Messi having signed up with PSG at least until the summer of 2023, there is little chance that he will cross the Atlantic anytime soon.
However, should a transfer ever take place, he would have the opportunity to reunite with Higuain.
The 33-year-old former Real Madrid and Juventus forward, however, is keen to make it clear that he will only stay in Miami until the end of the 2022 MLS season.
“With Inter Miami, I have another year of contract, then I will take a year off, away from football and everything.”
