The new Busy Season Talks series, the Clubhouse conversations in the ‘living room’ of the accountancy profession, will start on Tuesday evening, September 21. In the Vitamin A podcast, organizers Hakan Koçak and Arif Dursun talk about their motives.

“The odds aren’t high, but there’s a possibility there are accountants who missed your ‘breakthrough’ last year,” Vitamin A host Sven Budding introduces the two drivers behind Clubhouse’s weekly ‘talk shows’. That series of conversations gained more and more followers in the first season, also because the organizers managed to attract prominent speakers. The first series ended with a live show (to look back on YouTube) from a purpose-built living room.
From September 21 to mid-December, Hakan and Arif will host a new series of BST talk shows (starting at 8pm) and also from February to April 2022; a total of 25 editions in the “dark months of the year”, according to Hakan. “We have a wonderful profession and there are many topics that need to be discussed, which we try to facilitate from Clubhouse”, Arif motivates the efforts surrounding the series of conversations.
Experiment
The creators do feel some pressure at the start of the new season, because expectations are high due to the success of the previous series. In the summer months they reflected on the concept. “We’re going to experiment,” said Hakan. A number of co-hosts will get a more solid role next season. They have also started their own BST-community on the NBA’s new community platform and with BST accounts on LinkedIn and Instagram, including its own logo.
They also want to publish their own podcast every month, in which they talk to non-accountants who give their views on the profession. “The most fun and educational shows were the ones where we invited outsiders, non-accountants,” says Hakan. “Their perspectives are so important to us”. The two organizers want to contribute with their activities to the further development of the profession and involve young accountants in this.
