UNITEDINSIDE: News about the start of school

There will be one or two personnel changes for the new school year: Paul Wüst is replacing Willi Ongaro as headmaster in Zurich. With Karen Twehues, Michelle Schmidheini, Luca Moser and Ricardo Cabanas, four new teachers are joining the UNITED school of sports. There are also changes in the secretarial staff.

Was for fifteen years Willi Ongaro the most important contact person for the first and second year apprentices. The man who was almost at the first UNITED hour turned to a new challenge this summer. Ongaro’s “legacy” is taken over by Paul Wüst. The trained primary school teacher and special education teacher most recently headed the curative education school in the city of Zurich. Wüst brings a lot of stamina to the task: The Schaffhauser is an enthusiastic triathlete and ultra-cyclist.

Karen Twehues takes over Irène West’s English workload in Zurich. Born in Ticino, she has worked continuously as an English teacher in Solothurn and Aargau since 2014. On a sporting level, Twehues is in her element on the basketball court. The mother of two was captain of the Swiss senior national team for ten years and worked as a professional in the USA and Italy.

In Winterthur will Michelle Schmidheini the successor to Nicole Wunnerlich. She will teach the IKA lessons at the newest UNITED location. The Appenzeller, who has found a second home in St. Gallen, worked as a video journalist and in online marketing before joining UNITED. In parallel to her teaching activities, Schmidheini is starting her IKA teacher training at the PH in Zurich.

Our football talents from GC will be on the campus in Niederhasli from Ricardo Cabanas supervised during self-organized learning. The GC figurehead of the noughties celebrated three championship titles with the Hoppers and played a European Championship and a World Cup finals with the national team. After his lawn career, Cabanas successfully completed his studies at the University of Zurich. At GC, Cabanas, as Head of Footeco, also takes care of the 11 to 14-year-old kicker hopes.

In St. Gallen, since this summer, the accounting lessons have been from Luca Moser informed. Originally from Winterthur, he studied international relations at the HSG and then proved himself as a high school teacher. Parallel to his work at UNITED, the passionate hobby kicker is now also doing his doctorate at St. Gallen University.

To make a comeback Franz Zemp and Sanela Martel. Both of them have already successfully taught apprentices with us in the past and are now returning to UNITED.

There were castling not only in the classrooms, but also in the secretariats. Basketball talent Martin Terzioski supports the work in Winterthur as a trainee; Fabio Murer, Young international GCK Lions player, joins the team in Zurich as an apprentice.

We warmly welcome all new employees and wish them a successful start.
