Aké dedicates goal to deceased father • Bazoer and Tannane back at Vitesse

Nathan Aké also had a successful evening, but on a private level he swallowed a bitter pill. His father died minutes after Ake scored on behalf of Manchester City against RB Leipzig.

“The past few weeks have been the hardest of my life. My father was very sick and there was no treatment anymore,” Aké writes on Instagram.

Always proud and happy

“Yesterday I scored my first Champions League goal after a difficult time, and just a few minutes later my father slept peacefully, with my mother and brother by his side. Maybe it was intended that way. If he saw me play, he was always proud and happy.”

“I know you’re always with me, you’ll always be in my heart. This one was for you, father.”
