It is to “Good evening Norway” that Strømnæss confirms that there will be no new season “Power of the Spirits” on TVNorge, writes TV 2.
– At least not in the foreseeable future. After 17 seasons and 16 years, Discovery has decided to put the series on ice. What they justify that decision with, you will hear from them about, says the host, who has led the show since it went on the air for the first time in 2005.
He says he thinks it’s a shame that the series is not allowed to continue.
Retires
When asked by VG about what he should do now, the 65-year-old answers:
– I have become a grown man over the years, so I do not intend to do very much.
– Does that mean you retire?
– Simply, yes. But it is possible that I give some lectures. Maybe I’ll also follow up on the book I published a few years ago. I will not be completely lazy, but I do not mind some free time now, he says and laughs.
Strømnæss is also the editor and co-owner of the production company View Masters, which was behind “The Power of the Spirits”.

New ghost series
Hanne McBride, head of Discovery, which owns TV Norway, says TV 2 that they instead focus on another form of ghost stories.
– We also see that ghost stories and supernatural phenomena have long been a Youtube trend among young people, so this fall we put on a brand new program called “Ghost Hunters”, says McBride, and adds that “Power of the Spirits” medium Lilli Bendriss (75) joins there.
According to TV 2, the upcoming concept is that Bendriss, together with the youtubers Victoria Skau (22) and Robin Hofseth (29), will visit old town halls, abandoned hotels, disused clinics, prisons, gloomy fortresses and dark crow castles.
Believe in the heir
The concept was announced already this summer, but at that time the channel did not say anything that it would happen at the expense of “The power of the spirits”.
Strømnæss tells VG that the new program will surely be good.
– They choose to maintain an offer in this genre, and then “Ghost Hunters” is an alternative.
– “The power of the spirits” has been going on for so many years, and we have probably seen some signs of fatigue. Such is the TV industry. We may not fully meet the terms of Discovery. But it is not very dramatic, he says.
Strømnæss still admits that it is sad to enter the years.
– Especially because we can not help everyone who turns to us. It is an inexhaustible source of fascinating and strange stories out there.
Since it is View Masters who will produce the new series, Strømnæss gets a little finger in the game.
– Yes, a bit like that indirectly, he explains.
