The Pope’s Mass in Šaštín is accompanied by chaos, thousands of people are coming

Checks on entries into individual sectors were slow, so the original entry date of eight o’clock could not be met.

There was a danger that thousands of people would not get to the mass, so the organizers extended the possibility of entering until nine o’clock. The Slovak D2 motorway was completely closed in the direction from Bratislava to Kúty for the arrival of a column with the Pope.

The area near Šaštín was accessible already at night and some people took this opportunity to get to the area without any problems.

“We came from eastern Slovakia and we have been on the premises since four o’clock. At that time, the approach was still without problems and the night could be endured, “says Ján from the town of Sobrance.

Eva from Trenčín arrived at three o’clock after midnight to take a seat on the premises: “I am very much looking forward to meeting Pope Francis.”

Czech can also be heard among believers. According to the organizers, over two thousand foreigners registered for the mass. Šaštín lies on the border with the Czech Republic, so it can be assumed that these are mostly citizens of the Czech Republic.

The Mass in Šaštín is the last item on the program of Pope Francis in Slovakia. From eleven to thirteen o’clock, the D2 motorway will be closed in the direction of Bratislava, when the convoy with the pope will go to the Bratislava airport of Milan Rastislav Štefánik.

There, President Zuzana Caputova bids farewell to the head of the Catholic Church and Pope Francis flies to Rome.
