Auction in Chartres on September 18: around a hundred lots

For the third year in a row, the SVV Galerie de Chartres (28) invites fans and collectors of vintage motorcycles to a great sale made up of garage items, old paper, accessories and motorcycle parts. About thirty machines will be to be acquired with, for the most part, quite exceptional V-Twins.

Our first selection shone its spotlight on machines “made in France”. And to stay in the theme, it is a René Gillet 750 cm3 type G from 1926 that sticks to it. Restored a few years ago, it has been made reliable with a 12 V ignition (the original one will be supplied with it). Regarding the estimate, it was established (workshop) between 12,000 and 15,000 euros.

We stay with the big manufacturers with a brand that began to offer motorcycles in 1923: Motobécane. This 250 cc from the late twenties with its beautiful patina is rotating and expects between 2,500 and 3,500 euros.

At the beginning of motorcycle history, many cycle manufacturers embarked on the adventure. This was the case with the Desmailles brothers who raged near Bourg en Bresse. The description tells us that there would have been between 100 and 200 machines produced under the Raymo brand. This rare example is powered by a 300cc 4-stroke Blackburne. To restore, count for the estimate between 2,000 and 3,000 euros.

There, we are on familiar ground. The Kœhler Escoffiers wrote some beautiful pages in motorcycle racing between the two wars. Here, it is a tumbled 250 cm3 that will need to be restored. The estimate between 2,000 and 3,000 euros seems quite low.
