Overthrow Burnley, Everton Enliven Top 4 Competition

Everton Enliven the competition in the top four Premier League. This happened after Toffess won 3-1 over Burnley.

Everton host Burnley at Goodison Park in the fourth week of the Premier League, Tuesday (14/9/2021) early morning WIB. The hosts met fierce resistance from the Clarets.

Both teams drew 0-0 until the first half ended. After the break, Burnley were even able to take the lead in the 53rd minute. Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s pass from the right could be headed by Ben Mee to outwit Jordan Pickford.

Seven minutes later, Everton was able to rise to equalize. Michael Keane’s header rattled Burnley’s net and found Androw Townsend’s cross down the right. The score changed 1-1 in the 60th minute.

The Toffess did not take long to turn things around. In the 65th minute, Townsend’s long-range shot curled into the corner of the Burnley goal.

Everton secured a 3-1 victory thanks to a goal from Demarai Gray. Gray scored just one minute after Townsend’s score.

Additional three points to make Everton enliven the competition in the top four. Rafael Benitez’s men are currently in fourth place with 10 points.

Everton points equal Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool who are in positions one, two, and three, respectively. However, Everton lost on goal difference. Everton are one point ahead of Manchester City in fifth.

Benitez revealed that the result in the match against Burnley showed his team’s very strong desire to win. They can get up to secure the three points.

“You can see from the first minute of the first game, the commitment is there. The players want to win and compete,” said Benitez quoted from Everton’s official website.

“They have the desire to do well. When you have a problem with conceding first, they are able to react,” said the Spanish manager.
