Daniel Ricciardo went to the top of the Italian Grand Prix after a race that will be remembered for a very dramatic crash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
The two are fighting for the World Cup title in Formula 1. Hamilton is three points behind Verstappen in the World Cup summary.
Hamilton was on his way out of a pit stop on the 26th lap when Verstappen tried to take the inside turn in the following turn.
It ended with the two crashing, and both ruined the race in Italy.
– Here are the two World Cup leaders Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, and here are both out of the Italian Grand Prix. For a drama in Italy, Viasports commented Atle Gulbrandsen after the crash.
Verstappen rasta
Verstappen, on the other hand, was not happy with his rival, after the attempt to take the inside turn went completely wrong.
– That’s what happens when you do not give me space, he raged over the radio.
Both the two Formula 1 stars managed to get off the track for their own machine, but the pictures afterwards showed that the crash was far more dramatic than it might appear at first glance.
Verstappen’s car ended up almost on top of Hamilton’s Mercedes, and the reruns showed that the Dutchman’s rear wheel thundered into the halo hoop of Hamilton’s car.
– This is more dramatic than I could see that it was right away, Gulbrandsen said when he got to see live pictures of Hamilton’s car.
– May have saved his life
The halo bar is a protective bar that protects the driver’s head, and the TV pictures showed that the wheel of the Verstappen still hit Hamilton’s helmet, but that the safety bar took a lot of power.
– Well, Halo, thank you very much to those of you who invented that invention, Gulbrandsen commented as the dramatic images rolled across the screen.
– The halo may have saved Hamilton’s life. Thank God for that, writes TV personality Jake Humphrey on Twitter.
Around 16:00 on Sunday, Mercedes writes that their star driver is fine according to the conditions.
