Holyfield Lost TKO in First Round

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Evander Holyfield lost by TKO in the first round in an exhibition match against Vitor Belfort.

44-year-old Belfort proved to be more aggressive than Holyfield, who was 58 years old. The former UFC star Belfort’s strikes made it difficult for Holyfield from the start.

A Belfort left hook had left Holyfield wobbling and off balance. Holyfield was then hit by a barrage of punches and slipped into the ring ropes after attempting a counter-punch.

After returning to the fight, Belfort’s uppercut makes Holyfield fall. Holyfield got up quickly and tried to continue the fight.

Belfort didn’t waste the momentum. He continued to attack Holyfield who could only defend.

The referee finally decided to stop the match in the first round with only eight seconds remaining. The referee declared Belfort won by TKO over Holyfield.

Holyfield decided to return to boxing and faced Belfort as a replacement for Oscar De La Hoya. This match is counted as an exhibition match as well as Holyfield’s first match after 10 years.

Holyfield was said to be going to be Mike Tyson’s opponent in the exhibition match. But so far the duel Mike Tyson vs Holyfield has not reached an agreement.
