Sixteen candidates, including seven Flemish, take their chance on Saturday evening K2 searches for K3. In the first audition show they choose a K3 number themselves with which they have to convince no fewer than three juries. There is the hearing jury (Natalia and Samantha Steenwijk), the viewing jury (Ingeborg and Gordon) and a 100-strong public jury. Anyone who survives this first round is already one step closer to his or her dream: succeeding Klaasje Meijer in K3.
The system works as follows: only when both the hearing and viewing jury have printed, both duos will be able to see and hear the entire performance. After that, it’s up to the audience to rate the starred candidate and be left with ten candidates at the end of the episode. They can then go on to the studio shows.
Hanne Verbruggen and Marthe De Pilleceyn, the two remaining members of K3, are not yet running as jury. That only happens later. Studio 100 CEO Gert Verhulst is also only allowed to kick off the show on Saturday evening. His judgment, he must save that for later. He must now rely on the three juries. And they take their job seriously. “I want to see someone with a strong personality and a radiant smile”, Gordon says.
Tonight’s candidates include Emma (25) from Kessel-Lo. She was adopted and has roots in Bulgaria. For her audition on No she brought a supporter: her cat. Guus (24) from Morkhoven opts for Drums go boom and let it slip before the start of his audition that he is not a big fan of Ingeborg. All well and good, but prints them after his audition?
