This Friday at the stroke of 6.30 p.m., a car with three people on board left the road and ended up in Aveyron, north of Montauban. The oldest of the three passengers did not survive.
It is around 6.30 p.m. when the Montauban firefighters receive an alert for a car accident at 7 135 route de l’Aveyron, north of the city. Once there, they discover a vehicle which, after leaving the road, had finished its journey in the Aveyron river.
A 53-year-old man has died
The vehicle, a gray city car, had three passengers on board. The 40-year-old driver, a 15-year-old teenager and a 53-year-old man in the passenger seat. Once in the river, the vehicle sank to the height of the door handles. If the driver and the teenager managed to extricate themselves from the car, the firefighters had to intervene to get the third passenger out of the damaged vehicle. Unconscious, the 53-year-old man who is said to be domiciled in Labastide-Saint-Pierre was given a cardiac massage by the Samu, dispatched to the site. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts by the rescue forces, the 50-year-old was declared dead at around 7.15 pm It is not known whether this was due to a shock during the accident or if it was the result of a heart attack. The other two people were transported to Montauban hospital for an additional health check. More than twenty members of the rescue forces, ranging from the VSAV (Emergency and Victim Assistance Vehicle) of Montauban and Lafrançaise, to the Samu, including the police and a team of divers were mobilized during the this operation.
A narrow path by the river
The route de l’Aveyron is located north of Montauban. It is a small, narrow country road. If we still do not know what could have caused this exit from the road, a witness who would have warned the emergency services said: “I was on the phone while walking then I heard a violent brake, and immediately after I saw the car in the water “. He would then have warned his brother who would have called for help. This information remains to be confirmed by investigators. At the time of writing, the car is being pulled out of Aveyron by a recovery vehicle.
