The Central KPI employee with the initials MS, a victim of bullying and sexual harassment, is urged to make peace with the alleged perpetrators. The head of MS’s legal counsel, Mehbob, said the intimidation was facilitated by Central KPI officials.
Chronology: MS was contacted by KPI officials and asked to attend alone without being accompanied by a legal representative to the Central KPI Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/9/2021). MS was then met with the reported parties and presented with a peace letter in a room at the Central KPI Office.
Content of letter: Mehbob stated that the letter presented to MS contained an order to convey to the public that there was no sexual harassment as alleged to the reported party. In addition, the points in the draft instruct MS to withdraw the police report.
“His letter clearly asked MS to convey that the (sexual harassment) incident did not exist,” Mehbob told Asumsi.co, Friday (10/9/2021).
Office involvement: Mehbob said that there was no commissioner in the meeting between MS and the reported party. There was only one KPI official in the meeting. However, he believes there is a role for one of the Central KPI commissioners in the meeting. The reason is that the meeting seemed to have been carefully planned, for example, there was already a letter. The meeting also seemed strange because it was held at the Central KPI office.
Response: Mehbob claims MS refused the request. He also admitted that he was disappointed with the intimidation. MS ensures that it will not withdraw the report and all parties are asked to respect the ongoing legal process.
Condition: MS condition is reported to be physically healthy. However, his emotions still hadn’t recovered.
