RWE, NTE and Havfram have signed a cooperation agreement. Together, the three companies will participate in the government’s licensing process for floating offshore wind, which will start later this year.

This is stated in a press release the companies sent out on Friday.

– Utsira Nord is an excellent opportunity for us to develop a floating offshore wind project on an industrial scale, together with two strong Norwegians
partners. When it comes to floating offshore wind power, we are already doing groundbreaking work at no less than three demonstration facilities, including the TetraSpar project which is now being put into operation less than 20 kilometers
from Utsira North. We will use our knowledge and experience from the pilot projects in our future work in Norway, says Sven Utermöhlen, CEO of Offshore Wind RWE Renewables.

By 2030, Norway has set a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50 to 55 percent compared with 1990. The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has designated Utsira North and Southern North Sea II, near the sector border with Denmark, as areas for the production of floating offshore wind power.

The press release further states that the co-operation consortium is convinced that energy from offshore wind is a key component in the energy mix of the future and one of the solutions to cover the growing demand for renewable energy.

– The emergence of offshore wind is a decisive factor for
a successful energy transition in Norway. Together with RWE and NTE, we strive to promote this transition and aim to be a valuable contribution to Norway’s marine energy sector, says Odd Strømsnes, CEO
director of Havfram.

Havfram is a Norwegian subsea and offshore wind contractor with a global reach, and has subsidiaries from time to time
other United States and United Kingdom. Havfram has extensive experience with planning and implementation of complexes
offshoreoperasjoner.
