According to the AP agency, the obligation to vaccinate students over the age of 12 on Thursday was decided by the authorities of the second largest school district in the United States. The measure will affect about 630,000 pupils.
–
Students 12 years of age and older who participate in sports and other extracurricular activities must be fully vaccinated by the end of October. The others until December 19.
–
The AP agency stated that only a small number of districts in the USA have so far made a similar request to vaccinate older students. Nearby Culver City introduced a similar policy last month for its 7,000 students.

Until now, Los Angeles has fought the spread of coronavirus in schools by testing students and teachers every week or by wearing masks indoors and outdoors. All school staff also had to be vaccinated earlier.

Higher fine for not wearing a veil
In the United States, fines will be increased for passengers who violate regulations requiring the wearing of veils on airplanes, trains, and other means of public transportation to prevent the spread of coronavirus. According to the AP agency, this was announced by government authorities.
–
Those who are caught for the first time without a veil face a fine of $ 500 to $ 1,000 (CZK 10,750 to $ 21,500). If caught again, the fine can range from $ 1,000 to $ 3,000 ($ 21,500 to $ 64,500). So far, the fines have started at $ 250 and could climb to $ 1,500 in a repeated offense.
–
The Department of Homeland Security said the new fines would take effect today. The obligation to wear a veil on an airplane, bus and other public transport will remain in force until at least 18 January.
–
The regulation on public transportation drapes has been misunderstood by many Americans and has led to a number of passenger disputes with flight attendants and stewards, who are required to enforce the measures. According to a report from the authorities last month, airlines recorded 3,889 cases of unruly passengers this year, of which 74 percent concerned refusal to wear a veil.
