Dumoulin was hit by a car during practice. He’s undergoing surgery.
Dumoulin wanted, among other things, to drive the world championship, which will soon be held in Belgium. He also had an Italian program in store, with, for example, the Tour of Lombardy.
“This is a huge disappointment,” he said. “I was really looking forward to the coming weeks. The matches that were to come are very good for me. But unfortunately, it’s over for now.”

Dumoulin returned this summer after a longer period without competitions. He had lost the pleasure of his sport. “But I felt better and better,” he says. “I really started to get back in shape. Even today in training I noticed that very well. I was very confident that I could still deliver good results this year.”
