On September 18, at 6 pm, in the Golden Hall of the Riga Latvian Society, the author’s concert of the anniversary of the composer Indra Riše “Sprīdi above the Earth” will take place. Soloists Agnese Egliņa, Sandis Šteinbergs, Ivars Bezprozvanovs, Anete Toča, Mārtiņš Circenis, jubilee Indra Riše, as well as the vocal group “Birds” led by Antras Dreģe will take part in the concert. The event will be hosted by musicologist Dāvis Eņģelis, representatives of the Composers’ Union informed.

The anniversary author’s concert “Sprīdi ül Zemes” will emphasize Indra Riše’s significant contribution to Latvian chamber music and will feature musicians and listeners’ favorite compositions, covering a period of about 20 years of creative work. “The choice of compositions will allow you to feel the development of the composer’s music style and handwriting, the ability to find like-minded people both among musicians and among listeners. Indra Riše’s favorite topics are nature, Latvian folklore, as well as socially relevant and spiritual topics both for adult listeners, “said the concert ‘s creators.

Indra Riše (1961) initially studied in the piano class of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian State Conservatory and later also in the composition class with Professor Pēteris Plakids. In 1993, the composer went to Denmark to improve her composition skills, where she entered the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, attending master classes in California, Paris, Oslo, Visby, etc.

Returning to Latvia in 2003, Indra Riše was active both in the creative field (compositions for orchestra, chamber orchestra, organ, solo instruments, as well as chamber music, etc.) and in public life (head of ISCM (2006–2013), head of the Latvian Composers’ Union (2015– 2017) and others

The composer’s works have been published and are available to a wide range of musicians and are performed in European countries, the USA, Canada, Australia and Russia.

This year, Indra Riše’s organ music album “Angels’ Trumpets” was also released.
