In recent hours, news of Iveta Bartošová’s missing monument has passed the Czechia. The daily Aha! with the fact that Josef Rychtář’s widower came to be pointed out to this fact even by the police themselves. The TN.cz editorial staff teamed up with the ex-singer’s ex-husband. He put everything right.
The wooden cross and the stone heart at the tracks in Uhříněves, where Iveta Bartošová died seven years ago under the wheels of the train, have been missing for about a month. And the reason is simple. The monument needed renovation, so the widower of the singer Josef Rychtář took it home.
“I have a contract for this place, I take care of this place, I cut it there, I keep it. And I built a monument to Ivetka so that it would not be forgotten that unfortunately this accident happened,” explained the Mayor. “In Slovakia, I had a cross made of oak wood, and at that time I didn’t realize that if I put it in concrete, the wood would rot down. After seven years, it happened that the wood took over,” added.
Bartošová would be 55 years old. Her urn is still in the living room with me, says Rychtář

Fearing that he might fall, a makeshift reinforcement first appeared on the monument. In the end, however, Rychtář completely dismantled the cross and took it home with a stone heart so that it could be repaired, sanded and painted. “I had a pedestal made of stainless steel, such a holder, the cross will be placed in it and I will put it back on.” he explained.
But at the end of August, the police called unexpectedly. She responded to the announcement of a man driving around the place, afraid that someone had stolen the monument. “He called phone 158, where he announced the disappearance of the monument. Immediately, the police from the local Uhříněves department became interested in it,” said law enforcement spokeswoman Violeta Siřišťová. “We found out that the theft and fulfillment of the crime did not take place,” she added.
The surprised Rychtář explained everything to the police. It is said that he would point out the renovation it did not occur because it was his property. On the other hand, he was pleased that the locals were not indifferent to the fate of the monument. “They’re used to it being there and they can go light a candle there,” added.
