António Folha, coach of FC Porto B, commented on the return of 36-year-old Silvestre Varela to the club to join the secondary training of dragons. Praises the courage and highlights the status of leader of the Portuguese international among the youngest.
“We think he has the conditions to play. Allied to this there is a professional and a man, adding to the experience he has had within the club, because he knows everything it is to be FC Porto. Taking that into account, it was an easy choice to come to us and add more value. Not that we need him to be a spa leader. But he is a natural leader. The kids see in him, by the way he works and wants to help, a leader. For those who are young and growing, coming from different cultures, having people with this past at the club and this humility… coming to a Second League and to the B team is a demonstration of a man’s character. He wasn’t ashamed to come to a B team or to the Second League. A lot of people are ashamed and prejudiced, Varela was just fantastic. This demonstrates the humility, character and man that he is», Folha said in an interview with FC Porto TV.
